Abstract

This article analyzes the problems of classifying names in toponymy. It examines the issues of classifying toponyms according to semantic, etymological, structural, and motivational criteria, and reviews existing scholarly approaches. The study also evaluates the multilayered nature of place names, as well as the complexities involved in determining their origins and meanings, as factors influencing the classification process. The article contributes to the improvement of the scientific classification of toponyms and enhances the effectiveness of toponymic research.
